Vote for the Cunningham Bounds Coastal player of Week 2

Check out the nominees for the Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Football Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2023 high school football season.

Coaches can submit statistics following their games on Friday night or nominate players before noon each Saturday.

Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician. They can be emailed to [email protected].

Voting is open until Wednesday morning. The winner will be announced on AL.com on Thursday.

Here are this week’s choices:

Randal Barfoot, Satsuma: Barfoot scored the winning touchdown against Cottage Hill on a 3-yard run in the final minute. He also completed 11-of-18 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns.

Jai Brown, St. Luke’s: Brown scored on runs of 11 and 25 yards as St. Luke’s shut out Marengo. He finished with 125 yards on 18 carries.

DJ Butler, Davidson: Butler ran for four touchdowns and passed for another, accumulating 265 all-purpose yards as Davidson opened its new Warrior Stadium with a 59-46 victory over visiting Hillcrest-Evergreen Friday night. Butler rushed 19 times for 229 yards.

Sterling Dixon, Spanish Fort: The Alabama commit had seven solo tackles, five assists, two sacks and a quarterback pressure in a win over Blount.

Landon Duckworth, Jackson: The South Carolina QB commit threw four touchdowns to four different receivers as the Aggies defeated Demopolis.

Anthony Frazier, St. Paul’s: The sophomore scored on a 14-yard run and then blocked a punt and scored as the Saints edged McGill-Toolen.

Ty Goodwill, Faith Academy: Goodwill caught a TD pass and had three interceptions and a blocked field goal attempt in the Rams’ win at Elberta.

Brayden Huebner, Leroy: Huebner was 9-of-11 for 226 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Clarke County. He also rushed for 74 yards, had three tackles on defense and returned a punt 44 yards.

Santae McWilliams, Saraland: McWilliams rushed for 99 yards and four touchdowns on just nine carries – all in the first half – as the Class 6A top-ranked Spartans rolled over Murphy.

Drew Murphy, Bayside Academy: Murphy had three interceptions, including a pick-6, as the Admirals moved to 2-0 with a win over Pike Liberal Arts. He also had three tackles.

Kolton Nero, Foley: Nero rushed for 271 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries as Class 7A No. 10 Foley improved to 2-0 with a win over Baldwin County.

Brandon Purifoy, Vigor: Purifoy sealed Vigor’s comeback win over Blount with an interception return for a touchdown. He finished with 13 tackles, a sack and two pass breakups.

Gunner Rivers, St. Michael: Rivers threw six touchdown passes as St. Michael evened its record at 1-1 with a win over Chickasaw. Rivers was 29-of-41 overall for 378 yards. He also had a rushing score.

Roderick Taylor, Baker: Taylor rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns as the Hornets beat Wetumpka 33-17 on the road to improve to 2-0.
