Vote for the Cunningham Bounds Coastal FB Player of the Week

Check out the nominees for the Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Football Player of the Week for Week 5 of the 2023 high school football season.

Coaches can submit statistics following their games on Friday night or nominate players before noon each Saturday.

Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician. They can be emailed to [email protected].

Voting is open until Wednesday morning. The winner will be announced on AL.com on Thursday.

Here are this week’s nominees:

Carlos Benjamin, Vigor: Benjamin rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns as Vigor stayed unbeaten with a win over UMS-Wright. He scored on runs of 80, 1 and 53 yards, finishing with 17 carries.

DJ Butler, Davidson: The Coastal Carolina commit ran for 254 yards and three touchdowns as the Warriors defeated Fairhope 42-10. He also threw a 30-yard pass to Anthony Rabb as Davidson put the single-wing offense in last week.

Josh Flowers, Baker: The Mississippi State commit was dominant as a runner and a passer against Dahpne. He carried the ball 21 times for 127 yards and two short touchdowns. He also completed 14-of-19 passes for 226 yards and two more scores.

P.J. Brown, Mobile Christian: Brown scored on runs of 8, 2 and 10 yards and threw a key block on Jordan Woullard’s 90-yard sprint to the end zone in the Leopards win over Monroe County.

Ty French, Baldwin County: French’s 30-yard interception return for a touchdown sealed the Tigers’ 20-13 victory at Blount.

Albert Haywood, McGill-Toolen: Haywood ran for three touchdowns as McGill won the “Battle for the Cannon” against rival Murphy. He also had four receptions for 45 yards.

Jared Hollins, Mary G. Montgomery: The South Alabama commit went 11-of-13 for 182 yards and four touchdowns as the Vikings rolled past Alma Bryant 42-7.

KJ Lacey, Saraland: The Texas commit threw five touchdown passes – all in the first half – as the 6A No. 1 Spartans stayed unbeaten with a win over Robertsdale. Lacey was 11-of-15 for 179 yards overall.

Cole McConathy, Spanish Fort: The Louisville commit had 10 tackles, three tackles for a loss and two sacks in the Toros’ 8-3 win over Theodore.

Brayden Rivers, Citronelle: Rivers had 10 tackles and an interception as the Wildcats upset Class 5A No. 5 Faith Academy.

Gunner Rivers, St. Michael: The freshman went 18-of-22 for 325 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 42-8 victory over Satsuma.

Turner Tillman, St. Luke’s: Tillman had 11 solo tackles, two assists, one sack and two tackles for a loss on defense and 95 yards rushing on offense as the Wildcats stayed unbeaten against J.U. Blacksher.

Chris Williams, T.R. Miller: Williams had interception returns of 24 and 16 yards as the Tigers rallied to beat Orange Beach at home.
