Vote for Huntsville Times Girls Athlete of the Year

The 2023-24 school year was a great one for female student-athletes in The Huntsville Times coverage area.

Hazel Green, of course, won another basketball championship – its seventh in a row. Athens and Skyline brought home Alabama High School Athletic Association blue map title trophies from this spring’s softball tournament. Class 7A Bob Jones and 5A Arab finished second in volleyball while Brewer and Madison County made the Elite Eight in Class 5A and 4A, respectively. Scottsboro continued its dominance in indoor and outdoor track and field, Whitesburg Christian captured the cross country and outdoor track and field crowns in 2A. Bob Jones and Whitesburg won swimming and diving championships and Westminster Christian won its second consecutive 4A soccer title.

There are too many athletes to name who made those championship runs possible – even many who weren’t in starting lineups.
