Check out this week’s nominees for the Huntsville area football player of the week and vote in the fan poll below.

Here are the Week 1 candidates:

Ken Cherry, Madison Academy: Ran for 221 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-6 win over Deshler.

Bradin Dupper, Decatur: Accounted for six touchdowns – four passing and two rushing – in a 54-23 win over Mae Jemison.

Savarius Evans, Decatur Heritage: Ran for 277 yards and six touchdowns on 15 Carries in a 63-15 win over Section.

Jayden Gilbert, Clements: Sccored six touchdowns – four rushing and two passing – in a 45-12 win over Holly Pond.

Brogan Gross, Athens: Threw four touchdown passes in a 63-14 win over East Limestone.

Jake Jones, Scottsboro: Ran for 163 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries, and completed 4 of 5 passes for 76 yards and a TD in a 56-51 win over Fort Payne.

Carlin Long, Lee-Huntsville: Ran for 354 yards and five touchdowns in a 44-34 win over Westminster Christian.

Braxton Peters, West Morgan: Completed 16 of 20 passes for 204 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-20 win over Randolph.
