Visiting downtown? REV Birmingham says their new map can help you plan
Local revitalization nonprofit REV Birmingham released a downtown map this week in an effort to help people navigate the city’s districts.
“When we were asked to help plan a downtown tour for one of the many conferences hosted in Birmingham this summer, we decided to take the opportunity to develop a district-by-district activities guide so we could point those conference attendees to see more of downtown during their free time,” said REV spokesperson Natalia Durán-Whyte. “Of course, as we were building the district map and its webpage, we knew we were creating something that we would be promoting as a tool for exploring downtown Birmingham far beyond that conference.”
Roughly a decade ago REV Birmingham was created when downtown revitalization projects Operation New Birmingham and Main Street Birmingham merged together.
The organization describes itself as “a place-based revitalization and economic development nonprofit with a mission of creating vibrant commercial districts” on their website.
The map, Durán-Whyte said, was created to aid that mission.
