Vigor senior claims AL.com fan vote for top AHSAA State Finals performance
After leading Vigor to the program’s first state championship crown, the Class 5A state finals MVP claimed another honor.
Vigor’s Aslan Jones was voted as the AL.com boys basketball player from the AHSAA Final Four, garnering 5,387 of the total 24,649 votes (22%) in the poll.
R.C. Hatch’s Isiah Thomas finished second with 4,290 votes (17%), while Brantley star Jayden Parks finished third with 3,866 votes (16%).
Jones shined in the Class 5A state semifinals with 19 points and 7 steals in a 71-53 victory over Guntersville, shooting 8-for-14 from the field and knocking down three 3-point baskets; he also grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists and logged a block.
In the Wolves’ 59-49 Class 5A state championship victory over Sylacauga, Jones had a a near-double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
He shot 5-for-11 from the field in the win, also grabbing 4 steals for Vigor in the win.
A multi-sport athlete, Jones holds Division I football offers from Louisiana-Monroe, North Alabama and Southeastern Louisiana.
