The victim in a fatal south Alabama traffic accident has been identified, according to the Mobile Police Department.

The department said it responded Friday to a pedestrian being struck on Cody Road at about 7:15 p.m.

The victim was discovered deceased by officers and was identified as Mark Cooper, 65.

“Upon further investigation, officers discovered the victim was struck by a vehicle as he was attempting to cross Cody Road,” the department said. “The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.”

MPD is still investigating the fatal accident.
