Vestavia Hills man, 70-year-old Oxford woman killed in Coosa County crash

Two people were killed and a third injured in a two-vehicle crash in Coosa County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the victims who were killed as Kelderick J. Williams, 34, of Vestavia Hills, and Linda J. Thrasher, 70, of Oxford.

The wreck happened at 5 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 231, about six miles south of Rockford.

ALEA Lt. Jeremy Burkett said Williams was driving a BMW 325xi that was hit by a Nissan Murano driven by 73-year-old James W. Thrasher, also of Oxford.

Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Linda Thrasher, a passenger in the Murano, was taken to Elmore County Hospital in Wetumpka where she later died.

James Thrasher was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. The severity of his injuries was not immediately known.

The investigation is ongoing.
