Vestavia Hills boy, 3, drowns in Liberty Park lake
A toddler drowned Thursday in a private lake in a Vestavia Hills neighborhood.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the young victim as Luke Brown. He was 3 and lived in Vestavia Hills.
Vestavia Hills police were called about 5 p.m. to a home in the 500 block of Lake Colony Drive in Liberty Park.
Luke was found unresponsive in a small lake behind the family’s home, said Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.
He was rushed by ambulance with a police escort to Children’s of Alabama where he was pronounced dead at 5:47 p.m.
The Church at Liberty Park has scheduled a community wide prayer gathering at 7:30 p.m.
