Verne Lundquist narrates final ‘SEC on CBS’ video ahead of final Alabama-Georgia game

CBS pulled out all the stops for its final SEC broadcast, brining Verne Lundquist back to narrate the hype video, which aired prior to the start of the No. 7 Alabama-No. 1 Georgia game.

Prior to the start of the game, Lundquist joined Adam Zucker, Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson to look back at the nearly three decades of coverage.

Nessler, who called games with Todd Blackledge on the SEC’s second best game of the week as he joked, remarked how he used to watch Danielson and Lundquist.

“That lucky dog! Why can’t I get some of those plays?” he joked. “But the last 6 years I’ve been fortunate enough to get some of those moments.”

All three shared laughs and compliments.

“When you come into a situation like that, you want to be the guy that replaced the guy that replaced the guy,” Nessler said. “You don’t want to be the guy that replaced a legend. You want to be 2 or 3 down the line. But I just thought, I’ve got to bring the same thing Verne brought, a fork and a knife and a glass of class, and I try to do it like he did.”
