Vehicle sought in Conecuh County double homicide found; suspects still at large
Authorities have recovered a vehicle sought in connection with a Friday night double homicide in Conecuh County.
However, the suspects in the crime are still at large, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Sgt. Jeremy Burkett of ALEA said a 2009 GMC Yukon has been recovered, believed to have been connected to the shooting Friday night. There was no word on where the vehicle was found.
The shooting was reported late Friday night on Boone Court in the Johnsonville community in south central Alabama.
The adult victim has been identified as Jatonio Williams, 31. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 10-year-old child was taken to a local hospital by first responders and later died from his injuries, according to the coroner’s office. The child’s name has not been released.
Both were taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Mobile for autopsy. The State Bureau of Investigation, Conecuh County Sheriff’s Department and the Conecuh County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
According to ALEA, the suspects involved in the killing are considered extremely dangerous. However, authorities have not released any physical description or said how many people are believed to be involved.
