Urban Meyer denies interest in Michigan State job, despite report
Urban Meyer is not interested in the Michigan State head coaching job, despite a report to the contrary.
The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter that he spoke with the Fox college football analyst.
“About the ‘reports’ linking Urban Meyer to the Michigan State HC job… I just checked with him,” Feldman posted wrote on Twitter. “There is zero truth to it with him being a candidate for it. He has no interest in that and is happy with what he’s doing now at Fox Sports.”
Earlier in the week, Fox Sports Radio host Bernie Fratto reported that Meyer is going to interview for the Spartans job.
“My best mole tells me Urban Meyer will interview with Michigan State for their HC position,” Fratto wrote on social media. “Stay tuned. Yes, it’s real. It’s possible. He has a lot of backers, so we’ll see where this goes.”
Michigan State fired Mel Tucker after allegations of sexual misconduct with Brenda Tracy, an activist in sexual assault and harassment prevention and awareness.
Meyer last coached in 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was fired after a 2-11 record.
The three-time national champion head coach with Florida and Ohio State is set to remain at Fox Sports, per Feldman.
