Updated 2025 Heisman Trophy winner odds: Early favorites include multiple SEC QBs
Each player who finished in the top 10 in 2024 Heisman Trophy voting has entered the NFL Draft, meaning a new crop of players will compete for the most prestigious award in college football.
Unsurprisingly, the early odds lean toward QBs. The top online sportsbooks list Texas’ Arch Manning and LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier as the favorites. Check below to see the other players with the best odds to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy.
2025 Heisman Trophy winner odds and betting trends
Odds via BetMGM Sportsbook as of Jan. 31:
Player | Odds |
---|---|
Texas QB Arch Manning | +800 |
LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier | +850 |
Clemson QB Cade Klubnik | +1100 |
Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith | +1200 |
Penn State QB Drew Allar | +1300 |
Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava | +1300 |
South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers | +1800 |
Oregon QB Dante Moore | +1800 |
Ohio State QB Julian Sayin | +1800 |
Miami QB Carson Beck | +2000 |
Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter broke the mold by winning in 2024, but Heisman voting typically favors QBs. Since 2000, the Heisman has gone to 20 QBs, three RBs and two WRs.
The transfer portal is proving to be a good place to find future Heisman winners. In the past eight years, six transfers have won the award.
Oregon QB Dante Moore is the transfer with the best Heisman odds for 2025. Moore left UCLA to join the Ducks last season, and the former five-star recruit learned the offense behind starting QB Dillon Gabriel. Ohio State QB Julian Sayin and Miami QB Carson Beck are two other transfers to watch.
Early betting predictions for the 2025 Heisman Trophy
Jeremiah Smith
Best odds: +1600 at DraftKings Sportsbook
Heisman voters are starting to show more love to WRs. In the past five seasons, two WRs have hoisted the Heisman Trophy (DeVonta Smith 2020, Travis Hunter 2024).
Ohio State has become a WR factory, sending players such as Marvin Harrison Jr., Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave and Jaxon Smith-Njigba to the NFL. Jeremiah Smith may be the best of the bunch and still has two more seasons to torch Big Ten defenses.
In 2024, Smith broke the Buckeyes’ single-season records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns by a freshman. Smith, 19, became a household name in the College Football Playoff, racking up 381 yards and five touchdowns in four games.
With fellow OSU WR Emeka Egbuka joining the pros, Smith should get even more targets in 2025. QB Will Howard also will be playing on Sundays next season, but there shouldn’t be much drop-off with Sayin leading the offense. Sayin is a former five-star recruit who also ranks among the players with the best odds to win the Heisman Trophy.
Cade Klubnik
Best odds: +1100 at Fanatics Sportsbook
Cade Klubnik’s second season as Clemson’s starting QB was by far his best. Klubnik, a Texas native, threw for 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The Tigers claimed the ACC Championship for the eighth time since 2015 and earned a spot in the College Football Playoff. Playing in big games is always a plus for Heisman hopefuls, and FanDuel Sportsbook gives Clemson the best odds to win the ACC (+270).
The return of WRs Antonio Williams, Bryant Wesco Jr. and T.J. Moore will greatly help Klubnik’s 2025 Heisman campaign. The trio were Cade’s favorite targets last season, combining for 2,263 yards and 21 touchdowns.
DJ Lagway
Best odds: +2500 at BetMGM Sportsbook
Florida had an extremely difficult schedule last year and exceeded expectations by finishing with an 8-5 record. QB DJ Lagway inspired hope for 2025 by beating No. 22 LSU and No. 9 Ole Miss in two of the final three games of the regular season.
Lagway’s stats weren’t eye-popping (1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions), but he didn’t become the full-time starter until mid-October. His numbers should improve drastically when he gets full control of the offense, and there’s always a learning curve for true freshmen.
Despite the obstacles that come with being a first-year starting QB in the SEC, Lagway impressed with a 5-1 record as a starter and played a massive role in head coach Billy Napier keeping his job.
