Unrestrained 2-year-old killed in Fayette County crash; adults not wearing seat belts injured
A Jasper toddler was killed in a Sunday morning crash in Fayette County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The wreck happened at 10:24 a.m. on Fayette County 73 near Morris Cemetery Road, about two miles south of Glen Allen.
ALEA Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey said the 2-year-old was a passenger in a Toyota Tacoma that left the road and hit a tree.
The child was unrestrained, Bailey said, and pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver, 40-year-old Steven B. Collins, was ejected from the pickup. He was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham by ambulance.
Another passenger, 22-year-old Wendy Bailey, was airlifted to UAB.
Authorities said Collins and Bailey, both also of Jasper, were not using seat belts. The severity of their injuries was not released.
