Undrafted rookies get the opportunity to show they belong
Six NFL teams are holding rookie minicamps this weekend. They’ve gathered their draft picks, tryout players and an in-between group – rookies who weren’t drafted but still have been signed to contracts.
Those under-contract rookies are assured of moving ahead with the draft picks into each team’s offseason program when rookie minicamp is over.
The lists of signed but undrafted free agents working with NFL teams this weekend include five prospects who played at Alabama high schools and colleges:
· Alabama guard Darrian Dalcourt: Baltimore Ravens
· Miami (Fla.) wide receiver Tyler Harrell (Alabama): Green Bay Packers
· Charlotte defensive end Eyabi Okie-Anoma (Alabama): Kansas City Chiefs
· South Alabama tight end Lincoln Sefcik: New York Jets
· Arizona State cornerback Ro Torrence (Bessemer City, Auburn): Seattle Seahawks
Okie-Anoma played at Alabama in 2018, Torrence played at Auburn in 2021 and Harrell played for the Crimson Tide in 2022.
The only team holding rookie minicamp this weekend without a prospect from an Alabama high school or college among its undrafted rookies under contract is the Philadelphia Eagles.
The rest of the NFL teams will hold their rookie minicamps next weekend.
