UCLAâs Chip Kelly leaving for Ohio State offensive coordinator job, per report
Chip Kelly is expected to leave UCLA to become Ohio State’s offensive coordinator, Bruce Feldman reported Friday.
Kelly will replace Bill O’Brien, who left the Buckeyes Friday less than a month after getting the job for the Boston College head coaching job.
247Sports confirmed Kelly has informed the team that he is leaving for another job.
Kelly, who spent the past six seasons at UCLA, won at least eight games in each of the final three seasons in Los Angeles. Kelly’s claim to fame came at Oregon where he was named the head coach in 2009 season and went 10-3, 12-1, 12-2 and 12-1 in his four seasons as head coach.
Following his success at Oregon, Kelly was named the head coach of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles and spent three years in the pros. He was fired after going 6-9 in 2015 and then went to the 49ers, where his team struggled to a 2-14 record.
