UAB’s Jermaine Brown Jr. named AAC Offensive Player of the Week

UAB running back Jermaine Brown Jr. has been named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his role in the Blazers’ 56-35 win over South Florida in the 7th annual game Children’s Harbor game.

The fifth-year senior had 18 carries for 116 yards and four touchdowns, pacing UAB’s rushing attack to a season-high 253 yards (5.3 avg) and becoming the first Blazer running back to eclipse the century mark in a single game this season.

Brown’s performance also moves him into fifth place in on UAB’s career rushing list (2,541 yards) and tied for fifth in career rushing touchdowns (25). He is also one of four UAB players to amass more than 4,000 all-purpose yards and needs 603 yards to set the program record.

The Blazers hit the road as they face two-time defending CUSA champion and fellow AAC newcomer UTSA in the Alamodome, Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
