UAB running back to miss remainder of the season with injury

UAB running back Isaiah Jacobs will miss the remainder of the 2024 season with an injury, head coach Trent Dilfer confirmed to reporters on Monday.

This marks the second season for Jacobs which ended with a season-ending injury, playing in the first five games of the 2023 season before suffering an injury to his ACL.

The two-time captain was listed as a co-starter alongside Lee Beebe Jr. in every game this season.

Jacobs, a redshirt senior and the brother of former Alabama running back Josh Jacobs, ran for 162 yards on 41 attempts this season and caught seven passes for 33 yards. He ran for a season-high 62 yards against Arkansas.

Last season with the Blazers, he totaled 55 carries for 249 yards and three touchdowns while catching 17 passes for 63 yards.

He transferred to UAB from Independence Community College, where he ran for 514 yards in his lone season, after spending two seasons at Maryland.

The Blazers’ group of reserve running backs includes Lee Witherspoon, Armoni Goodwin and Solomon Beebe, who were all listed in the depth chart for Saturday’s game against Army.

The Blazers (1-5, 0-3 American Athletic Conference) will play at South Florida on Saturday.
