UAB quarterback Jacob Zeno named AAC Offensive Player of the Week
The American Athletic Conference league office released its weekly awards Monday morning and UAB quarterback Jacob Zeno was named AAC Offensive Player of the Week for his career performance in the Blazers’ 45-42 win over Florida Atlantic.
It is UAB’s second weekly award this season after Jermaine Brown Jr. earned player of the week honors for his role in the win over South Florida. Zeno has been selected twice this season to the AAC honor roll.
Zeno returned to the starting lineup against the Owls, missing the Memphis loss due to a concussion, and finished 29-of-35 (82.9 percent) for a career-high 484 yards and five touchdowns, along with an interception and fumble. In doing so, the junior set the UAB single-game record for passing yards and touchdowns against an FBS opponent.
Through seven games, Zeno has passed at a 75.4 percent clip while amassing 2,389 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also has 145 rushing yards and four rushing scores.
The Blazers (3-6, 2-3 AAC) make the trip to Navy on Saturday to face the Midshipmen on Veterans Day.
