Andy Kennedy added his first commitment of the offseason in a JUCO guard.

Ari Gooch, a guard at McLennan Community College in Texas, has committed to UAB after playing his freshman year at the JUCO program.

The 6-foot-1 native of Minneapolis, Minn., picked UAB over other Division I offers from Tennessee Tech, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Marist.

As a freshman at McLennan, he averaged 14.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 32 games played. He shot 51.4% form the field and 36.3% from beyond the arc.

He scored a season-high 31 points twice this year for McLennan and scored in double figures 22 times.

McLennan finished the season 27-6 overall and 12-2 in North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play, falling in the NJCAA Region V championship game.
