UAB men’s basketball lands commitment from former DePaul, Coastal Carolina guard
Andy Kennedy and company added at the guard position from the Big East Conference on Tuesday.
Former DePaul guard Jacob Meyer has committed to play for UAB out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on social media Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2, 192-pound native of Covington, Ky., reportedly took a visit to Birmingham on Saturday.
Meyer played in 33 of DePaul’s 34 games this season with 16 starts, averaging 8.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game with the Big East program. He shot 33.3% from beyond the arc and added 22 steals on defense.
He started his college career at Coastal Carolina, where he led the Chanticleers with 15.7 points per game as a freshman and shot 40.6% from beyond the arc; he also averaged 5.1 points and 2.6 assists per game.
He scored in double figures in 28 of his 31 starts for Coastal Carolina as a freshman and logged a career-high 32 points against ULM in the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
