A new UAB Medical West facility recently opened its doors to 300,000 patients in the west Jefferson County area.

As of August 3, the emergency department at the prior location on 995 Ninth Avenue Southwest in Bessemer has permanently closed its doors. And all patients previously admitted were transported via ambulance to the new location at 5000 Medical West Way in Bessemer, according to a news release.
