The UAB football program knows when and where its 2024 season will lead following today’s official schedule release from the American Athletic Conference league office.

UAB was originally scheduled to play Alabama State in its season opener but the latter accepted an invite to the Orange Blossom Classic on the season’s opening weekend. In place of one SWAC foe comes another in the form of Alcorn State, which UAB defeated 22-0 during the 2007 season.

The remainder of UAB’s non-conference schedule remains intact with road games at SEC foe Arkansas and Sun Belt member Louisiana Monroe, where the Blazers face former offensive coordinator and interim head coach Bryant Vincent, who was hired as the Warhawks’ head coach this offseason, and a home game against UConn in the first meeting between the two programs.

The Blazers will face four conference opponents from last season, Navy, Tulane, South Florida and Memphis, and add Tulsa, Rice, Charlotte and new AAC member Army to the rest of the slate.

UAB will host Navy and Tulane in back-to-back home games following its first bye week of the season and hits the road for consecutive games at Army and South Florida before enjoying its second bye week. The month of November opens with home games against Tulsa and UConn, followed by a trip to rival Memphis and the final home game against Rice, and concludes the season at Charlotte, which has the option to reschedule the game to Friday.

The AAC title game is scheduled for a primetime television slot, Friday, Dec. 6, and will be played at the home field of the regular-season champion.

The Blazers are coming off a 4-8 campaign in Trent Dilfer’s first season at the helm and return 15 total starters for the 2024 season, along with a slew of new recruits and transfer portal signees.
