UAB basketball’s KJ Buffen named C-USA Player of the Week

The Conference USA league office announced its weekly awards today and UAB forward KJ Buffen was named C-USA Player of the Week for his efforts in leading the Blazers to wins over Louisiana Tech and Rice.

Buffen logged a double-double in each game for an average of 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds, adding 4 steals and 2 blocks. The junior forward had 11 points and a season-high 13 rebounds against LA Tech and finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds at Rice, where he scored the first 9 points of the game for the Blazers

For the season, Buffen has 5 double-doubles, averages 10.5 points and 7.2 rebounds and is one of three players on the team averaging double figures in scoring.

The Blazers play host to No. 19 FAU, Thursday, Feb. 2, at Bartow Arena in Birmingham. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network.
