UAB basketball signs St. Louis transfer Bradley Ezewiro

The Blazers continue to reap the benefits of the transfer portal.

The UAB basketball program announced the addition of former St. Louis forward Bradley Ezewiro on Monday after the 6-foot-9 mult-transfer posted his commitment on social media.

“Excited to have Brad join our program.” UAB coach Andy Kennedy said, “He brings additional size, strength, versatility and experience to our front line. We were looking to add a physical presence and big Brad plays physical on both ends of the court. We have recruited Brad a couple of times throughout his journey and we’re glad that the third time is the charm for him to be a Blazer.”

Ezewiro made only 22 appearances for St. Louis this past season, sitting out the first 11 games due to the transfer rule before the NCAA struck it down, and averaged 12.0 points and 6.2 rebounds. He started his career at LSU, appearing in seven games, and transferred to Georgetown for his sophomore season, where he averaged 4.3 points and 3.5 rebounds in 27 games.

During his shortened season at St. Louis last year, Ezewiro started 21 games, shooting 53.7 percent from the field, and scored in double figures in 16 games while posting three double-doubles.

Ezewiro joins Georgia Southern transfer Tyron Moore and Iona transfer Greg Gordon, along with JUCO signee Jaborri McGhee, ranked No. 3 according to JUCOrecruiting.com, in bolstering a UAB team that returns four of five starters — Efrem “Butta” Johnson, Alejandro Vasquez, Christian Coleman and 2024 AAC Defensive Player of the Year Yaxel Lendeborg — from last season’s AAC tournament title team.

The Blazers finished 23-12 this past season and made their 17th NCAA tournament appearance in program history
