UAB basketball signs Georgia Southern transfer Tyren Moore
The UAB basketball team is not done portaling just yet.
Georgia Southern transfer guard Tyren Moore was the second player to sign with the Blazers on Monday, following Iona transfer Greg Gordon, and UAB is readily stocking talent heading into the 2024-2025 season.
“Grateful to have Tyren join our program. An All-Sun Belt Conference lead guard who will provide perimeter shooting and playmaking to our experienced backcourt.” UAB coach Andy Kennedy said, “Tyren has a high basketball IQ which will equip him to make an immediate impact for Blazer Basketball.”

Moore averaged 17.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals last season for the Eagles, while shooting 41 percent from 3-point range, and was an All-Sun Belt second-team selection. He scored more than 30 points in five games and had a career-high 36 points in Georgia Southern’s quarterfinal loss to Appalachian State in the Sun Belt quarterfinals.
A Louisville, Kentucky native, Moore started his career at Moberly Area Community College (Mo.) before signing with Georgia Southern. He started 40 games in 65 appearances during his two-year career with the Eagles and averaged 13.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in two seasons.
Moore joins Iona transfer Greg Gordon and JUCO signee Jaborri McGhee, ranked No. 3 according to JUCOrecruiting.com, in joining a UAB team that returns four of five starters — Efrem “Butta” Johnson, Alejandro Vasquez, Christian Coleman and 2024 AAC Defensive Player of the Year Yaxel Lendeborg — from last season’s AAC tournament title team.
The Blazers finished 23-12 this past season and made their 17th NCAA tournament appearance in program history
