U.S. Space & Rocket Center soars as Huntsville’s top attraction

With Artemis I and Orion getting off the ground in 2022, it’s probably no surprise that the U.S. Space and Rocket Center continues to soar as the top attraction not only in Huntsville, but also the state.

But other attractions in the Rocket City such as the Huntsville Botanical Garden and the Orion Amphitheater – which opened in May – are also drawing attention from national publications and websites as well.

“The U.S. Space & Rocket Center regularly tops the list of paid attractions in the state and Huntsville Botanical Garden is usually in the top five,” said Charles Winters, executive vice president of the Huntsville Conventions and Visitor’s Bureau.

According to the Alabama Tourism Department, in 2021 Madison County had an estimated 3.7 million visitors who spent more than $1.7 billion.

“Both figures are new records,” Winters said. “2022 has been a great year, and we’ve seen hotel occupancy and average daily rates at or above previous highs.”
