Tyreek Hill, Quincy Williams win NFL monthly awards

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and New York Jets linebacker Quincy Williams have won NFL Player of the Month awards, the league announced on Thursday.

A West Alabama alumnus, Hill is the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. A Wenonah High School alumnus, Williams is the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October.

In five games in October, Hill had 36 receptions for 602 yards and four touchdowns as he became the fourth player in NFL history to have 1,000 receiving yards in his team’s first eight games of a season.

This is the second Player of the Month Award for Hill. He was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for December 2016.

The Dolphins also provided the winner of the AFC Offensive Player of the Month Award for September, when Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa won the honor.

In four October games, Williams made 45 tackles, recorded two sacks, registered six tackles for loss, recovered one fumble, forced one fumble and broke up four passes.

Williams was the only NFL player to reach both 45 tackles and two sacks in the month.

Williams’ brother Quinnen Williams, a Jets defensive tackle, was the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October 2022.

The other Player of the Month winners for October were Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, NFC Offensive; Minnesota Vikings linebacker Danielle Hunter, NFC Defensive; Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus, AFC Special Teams; and Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, NFC Special Teams.

The NFL Rookie of the Month awards for October went to Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison on offense and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon on defense.
