Tyler Pierce scores in final seconds, Boaz stuns No. 2 Guntersville

Boaz quarterback Tyler Pierce ran for an 11-yard touchdown with 15 seconds left in the game to give the host Pirates a 42-35 win over Class 5A, No. 2-ranked Guntersville.

Pierce’s winning score capped a seven-play, 64-yard drive after Guntersville turned the ball over on downs with 1:43 left in the game. The Wildcats had rallied from 14 points down, as Julyon Jordan return a kick 95 yards for a touchdown, and Street Smith threw a 68-yard TD pass to Dadrien Walker to tie the score at 35 with 8:33 left in the game. The latter TD came after a Boaz fumble.

The scored was tied 21-21 at halftime.
