Two teens die in separate wrecks in north Alabama county

Two teenagers died in Marshall County in separate wrecks, authorities have reported.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, a 17-year-old from Crossville was fatally injured in a two-vehicle collision at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.

The teen was driving a 2020 Dodge Charger that collided with a 2011 Dodge Ram driven by Julian Garcia, 28, of Guntersville. After the initial impact, ALEA reports, both vehicles left the roadway, struck a ditch and caught fire. The juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marshall County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as a male but said it would not release his name due to his age.

The wreck occurred on Alabama 168 near mile marker 15, northeast of Boaz. Troopers are investigating the incident.

The Marshall County Coroner’s Office reported early Monday morning via its Facebook page that another wreck, this one on South Hambrick Street in Albertville, had killed an 18-year-old.

The coroner’s office did not provide other details of the wreck or the victim’s identity.
