Mobile police arrested two suspects early Thursday morning after they were found in possession of drugs, a weapon and… a fire hydrant?

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded to call around 5:30 a.m. Thursday of unknown persons attempting to steal a fire hydrant located in front of Regions Bank on Schillinger Road South.

Arriving at the scene, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspects’ vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Inside the vehicle were drugs, a firearm and the fire hydrant.

Arrested were Keith Haley, 43, and Karla Frye, 39, each charged with theft of property, failure to disclose a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
