Tuscumbia warehouse fire causes explosions, shakes homes

A large warehouse fire broke out Saturday morning in Tuscumbia near 6th Street and Gann Boulevard, according to Colbert County EMA.

Tuscumbia Mayor William Foster told News 19 that the fire broke out at a gas station distribution warehouse that supplies vapes, butane, and nitrous containers of whipped cream.

“Something’s on fire, and is causing explosions everywhere. Shaking houses,” Foster said.

Foster described the situation as “pretty bad” and noted that shrapnel had gone through the roofs of neighboring homes.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether anyone was injured.

Colbert County EMA urged residents to avoid the area. According to News 19, the agency initially reported that the fire involved fireworks.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
