Tuscaloosa County man killed at birthday party was loved for âkind and funny personalityâ
Friends and family are mourning the loss of a 20-year-old Tuscaloosa County man who was fatally shot at a friend’s birthday party in Tuscaloosa County over the weekend.
Cayden “Beau” Nolen died Saturday morning in a shooting that also injured three other people.
“Beau was a son, brother, friend, and loved by many that knew his kind and funny personality,’’ a family member wrote in a GoFundMe to help with Nolen’s burial.
Tuscaloosa County sheriff’s deputies responded at 3 a.m. Saturday to the 11000 block of Pate Road in the Buhl community on a report of a shooting.
Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said four people were wounded by gunfire.
Deputies attempted life-saving measures on Nolen but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Two other victims were hospitalized with critical wounds but are currently stable. A fourth victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Kennedy said the investigation shows the gunfire stemmed from an altercation.
Dallas Eugene Clark, 22, of Northport, Zachary Tyler Smith, 23, of Buhl, and Jarret Tyler Booth, 21, also of Buhl, are charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.
Kennedy said multiple other charges are pending.
Clark, Smith, and Booth were booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
There was an outpouring of support on social media following Nolen’s death.
“If only you knew the lives you touched. If only you knew the impact you were able to create on one’s life in such a short period of time is unexplainable,’’ one friend wrote. “Your ability to light up a room in an instant was out of this world. You never failed to keep the party going.”
“You always made sure those you cared about were okay before yourself,’’ the friend wrote. “You never failed to be there for those you loved and that is beyond beautiful.”
According to the GoFundMe, Nolen’s father died unexpectedly in November. He was the financial provider for the family, and his wife – Nolen’s mother – is struggling to make ends meet.
“No words right now will help ease the family’s suffering and pain,’’ the GoFundMe reads. “Together, maybe we can ease the financial strain on Brooke give Beau a beautiful and proper funeral.”
