Tuohys paid Michael Oher $138K in profits from âBlind Side,â per report
Michael Oher received more than $138,000 in profits from the movie “The Blind Side,” per an ESPN report. The revelation comes from a sworn document lawyers filed in a Tennessee court on Wednesday.
Oher has accused Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy of cheating him out of money from the movie’s revenue. However, documents show the Memphis-based couple paid Oher $138,311.01 over 10 installments between June 2007 and April 2023.
“By agreement between the family members including Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, their children SJ and Collins as well as Michael Oher, the book and movie proceeds were to be split five ways,” the statement said, per ESPN.
In addition, the Tuohys’ lawyers said in the statement that the couple “spent tens of thousands of dollars of their own money to support Mr. Oher during his high school and college years.”
In August, Oher, the former NFL and Ole Miss lineman, said he was never adopted by the Tuohys and that he was tricked into signing a document making them his conservators.
He alleged the family used the conservators status to make deals that made the Tuohys – and their birth children – millions in royalties from the movie.
Sean Tuohy said he and the family were devastated by the remarks, saying it was the latest attempt at a financial shakedown.
