Tua Tagovailoa keeps lead in Pro Bowl Games voting

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa leads the NFL with 3,921 passing yards and the Pro Bowl Games with 175,772 fan votes.

The former Alabama All-American has three more weeks to add to his passing yardage, but fan voting runs only through Monday.

The NFL released its third update on voting for the Pro Bowl Games on Wednesday. Just as Tagovailoa has been the leader in the AFC quarterback race as the top overall vote-getter, two other players with Alabama football roots have led at their position at each update, too:

· Reed Blankenship (West Limestone) of the Philadelphia Eagles is out front in the voting at NFC strong safety.

· Tyreek Hill (West Alabama) leads the voting at AFC wide receiver.

The NFL released the vote totals for the top five players, with Tagovailoa at 175,772 – 44,664 more than San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, the second-place vote-getter.

Tagovailoa led the fan voting for the Pro Bowl Games last year with 306,861 votes. But when the NFL announced the selections for the teams, the AFC quarterbacks were the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow.

The selections made by fans, players and coaches count one-third apiece toward determining the Pro Bowl rosters for the AFC and NFC teams. NFL players and coaches will make their Pro Bowl selections on Dec. 29.

The ballot for this season’s Pro Bowl Games includes 81 players for Alabama high schools and colleges.

Fans can vote online for their Pro Bowl favorites through Monday. Fans also can vote via X (formerly Twitter) by tweeting the first and last names of a player, tagging the player’s Twitter handle or creating a hashtag from the player’s first and last names. All three methods must include “#ProBowlVote.” On Sunday and Monday, each social-media vote counts as two.

Last season, the NFL eliminated the Pro Bowl game and replaced it with the Pro Bowl Games, a skills competition and flag-football contest for the selected players.

The 7-on-7 flag football game featuring the Pro Bowl players will be held on Feb. 4 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, as the culmination of a multi-day AFC vs. NFC competition in which all-stars will demonstrate their football and non-football skills in a variety of events.
