Trussville officer hospitalized after police motorcycle struck from behind

A Trussville police officer was injured when his motorcycle was struck Tuesday.

Police officials said the officer was stopped waiting to turn into the department’s operations building in the 5900 block of Deerfoot Parkway about 3:30 p.m. The motor scout was struck from behind by another motorist.

The officer was taken to UAB Hospital. Lt. Clint Riner said his injuries are serious, but he is conscious and alert.

At the request of Trussville police, the Irondale Police Department is handling the investigation.
