Trump’s loyalty test: Federal job seekers must answer these 200-word essay questions to get hired

Loyalty is important to President Donald Trump.

Under a new memo, the president is attempting to weed out federal job applicants not in sync with his policies, according to Newsweek.

The memo crafted by White House head of domestic policy Vince Haley contains four essay questions to be asked of new federal job seekers, including how they would help advance the president’s agenda.

There is a federal hiring freeze that is set to expire July 15, but the Trump administration is already preparing how to shape the government workforce.

Among the four questions that require a 200-word answer, according to Newsweek, is:

“How would you help advance the President’s Executive Orders and policy priorities in this role? Identify one or two relevant Executive Orders or policy initiatives that are significant to you, and explain how you would help implement them if hired.”

Trump has used executive orders to enact his agenda, ranging from immigration to drug prices to culture war issues like girls in women’s sports.

The administration is facing several challenges to the orders.

The other questions, according to Newsweek, are:

  • How has your commitment to the Constitution and the founding principles of the United States inspired you to pursue this role within the Federal government? Provide a concrete example from professional, academic, or personal experience.
  • In this role, how would you use your skills and experience to improve government efficiency and effectiveness? Provide specific examples where you improved processes, reduced costs, or improved outcomes.
  • How has a strong work ethic contributed to your professional, academic or personal achievements? Provide one or two specific examples, and explain how those qualities would enable you to serve effectively in this position.
