Trump’s bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites gets support from unexpected source

President Trump’s authorization of military operations against Iran’s nuclear sites has drawn support from an unexpected source.

Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, known for his outspoken demeanor and casual attire, said the bombing of three nuclear sites in Iran was the “correct move.”

“As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move by (the president,” Fetterman said. “Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities.”

The president announced operations Saturday night, two weeks after U.S. ally Israel launched its own operations. The move prompted an outcry among Democratic lawmakers who said Trump lacked Constitutional authorization for a unilateral attack.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have gone this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Six “bunker buster” bombs were dropped on a nuclear facility in Fordow, Iran, according to reports. Another 30 tomahawk missiles were fired at Natanz and Isfahan, Iran.

Fetterman’s comments aren’t the first time he’s backed Trump. He drew the ire of fellow Democrats last year when he said he wasn’t “rooting against” the president.

“If you’re rooting against the president, you are rooting against the nation,” he said. “So country first. I know that’s become maybe like a cliche, but it happens to be true.”
