Trump says Pete Buttigieg ‘has no clue,’ takes jab at 2028 contender’s ‘loving relationship’

President Donald Trump on Thursday claimed former Pete Buttigieg “didn’t have a clue” about air safety before mocking Joe Biden’s transportation secretary’s “loving relationship” with his husband.

Addressing reporters, Trump said his first administration had plans in place to award a contract on new air traffic control systems that the Biden administration reversed.

“When they took over, Buttigieg, who has no clue,” the president said before remarking on Buttigieg’s relationship with his husband, Chasten Buttigieg.

“You know, he drives to work on his bicycle with his — in all fairness — with his husband on his back, which is a nice, loving relationship,” Trump said.

There is no evidence that Pete Buttigieg and Chasten Buttigieg rode a bicycle together.

Chasten Buttigieg joked about his husband’s bicycle riding, retweeting a picture of a mask-wearing Pete Buttigieg in 2021:

“But he didn’t have a clue,” Trump continued. “This guy didn’t have a clue. And this guy is actually a contender for president? Between him and Crockett you can have that party.”

Biden was referring to U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Tex., who has been one of the most vocal House Democrats critical of Trump.

Last month, Crockett wondered why questions weren’t increasingly being raised about Trump’s mental fitness.

“This crazy tariff war … like, the fact that nobody is questioning his mental acuity or fitness to serve is beyond wild to me, right?” she said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes.”

Crockett also claimed the nickname conservatives gave to criticize former President Joe Biden’s mental acuity was unwarranted.

“Like, the fact that they sat around, called Joe Biden ‘Sleepy Joe Biden’ … at least you could sleep at night because you didn’t have to worry about your 401(k) disappearing overnight,” Crockett told Hayes.

“You didn’t have to worry about these allegations of fake invasions. You didn’t have to worry about the cost of food just skyrocketing or skyrocketing costs of all of your electronics,” Crockett said.

“You know, the fact that Apple was flying in planes of iPhones before the tariffs hit. Like, this is crazy work. For no reason.”
