Trump reportedly may give away this symbol of his broken friendship with Elon Musk
President Donald Trump is considering getting rid of the Tesla he bought in support of Elon Musk as his budding feud with the world’s richest person hit a fever pitch Friday.
According to several media reports, Trump is thinking about either giving his Tesla away or putting it up for sale as he and Musk’s spat escalated.
Peter Doocy of Fox News says he was told Trump is either giving away or selling the vehicle.
Trump bought the Tesla after a March event with Musk at the White House that turned the South Lawn into a showroom for Musk’s electric vehicles.
The president said he was buying a Tesla in a show of solidarity with Musk, whom he claimed was being treated unfairly by the media scrutinizing the Department of Government Efficiency.
The backlash, according to the president, was responsible for fires being set at Tesla dealerships and for the vehicles being torched.
The Trump administration claimed the vandalism was “nothing short of domestic terrorism.”
Musk vehemently opposes the president’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates will grow the country’s debt by $2.4 trillion over 10 years.
The bill includes codifying $9 billion in DOGE cuts — hardly making a dent in the country’s debt.
The world’s richest person went on the attack Thursday, claiming the president would not have been elected in 2024 without Musk’s nearly $300 million in political donations.
In response, Trump threatened to sever the tech billionaire’s company’s lucrative contracts with the government.
Musk also accused Trump of being in the Epstein Files, suggesting the president is involved in sex trafficking and abuse.
Musk reportedly sought to smooth things over with Trump on Friday but the president has rebuffed the tech mogul’s attempt at a truce.
