Trump lashes out at reporter over Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s knuckle tattoos: ‘You’re not being very nice’

President Donald Trump would not let it go.

During an interview marking the 100th day of his second term, Trump was adamant that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador and has become the poster child of the administration’s immigration policy, had “MS-13″ tattooed on his knuckles.

“On his knuckles, he had ‘MS-13,’” Trump told interviewer Terry Moran of ABC News.

“He had some tattoos interpreted that way,” Moran responded, “but let’s move on. He did not have the letters ‘M-S-1-3.’”

But Trump wouldn’t let Moran move on to other questions, apparently not realizing that a printout of the tattoos translated the symbols on Abrego Garcia’s knuckles into “MS-13.”

Earlier this month, Trump posted to his Truth Social media platform a photo of him holding up a picture of the Maryland man’s knuckles.

“It says M-S-1-3,” Trump claimed.

Moran explained that the “MS-13″ in the photograph was Photoshopped onto Abrego Garcia’s knuckles when Trump accused Moran of disrespecting him with the question.

“That was Photoshopped? Hey, they’re giving you the big break of a lifetime. You know, you’re doing the interview. I picked you because, frankly, I never heard of you. But that’s OK. But I picked you, Terry, but you’re not being very nice,” the president said.

“He did have tattoos that could be interpreted that way,” Moran responded. “I’m not an expert on them.”

The president disagreed.

“Terry, Terry. No, no. He had M-S as clear as you can be. Not interpreted. This is why the people no longer believe the news because it’s fake news,” he said.

Moran pointed out that photos of Abrego Garcia in El Salvador did not have the “M-S-1-3″ lettering.

“Oh, they weren’t there. But they’re there now, right? Terry, he’s got ‘MS-13 on his knuckles, OK?” Trump said.

“It’s such a disservice,” the president continued. “Why don’t you just say, ‘yes, he does.’ And just go on to something else.”
