Trump lashes out at Kaitlin Collins, calls her ‘a nasty person’ during CNN town hall
Donald Trump barked at moderator Kaitlin Collins during his CNN town hall on Wednesday night, calling the Alabama native and moderator “a nasty person.”
The former president hurled the insult during an exchange with Collins after she asked him why he held onto classified documents when he knew the federal government sought them and subpoenaed him to return them.
“Are you ready? Are you ready? Can I talk? do you mind?” Trump said.
“Yeah. What;s the answer?” Collins responded.
“It’s very simple,” the former president said.
“That’s why I asked it,” Collins replied.
“It’s very simple that you are a nasty person, I’ll tell you,” Trump said.
The former president’s appearance on CNN marked the first time he was interviewed on the network since his first campaign in 2016.
CNN has been a frequent target of Trump’s attacks on the media.
The town hall was also the first major event of Trump’s 2024 campaign.
Trump’s campaign has turned to new channels, including popular conservative podcasts and made-for-social-media videos that often rack up hundreds of thousands of views. His team has also been inviting reporters from a variety of outlets to ride aboard his plane and has been arranging unadvertised stops at local restaurants and other venues to show him interacting with supporters.
