Real, true fall temperatures are in the forecast for Alabama — but you’ll have to wait until the weekend.

The National Weather Service is actually forecasting above-average temperatures for the next few days, with highs expected to be in the mid- to upper 80s across the state through Thursday.

High temperatures today will be in the 80s across Alabama.

But a pattern change is forecast to take hold over the weekend, according to forecasters.

A front is expected to make it to Alabama on Friday. It won’t bring a whole lot of rain with it, unfortunately, but it will bring cooler and drier air to the state.

Highs on Saturday will be wonderful for those sick of the heat. Highs are forecast to climb only into the mid- to upper 60s in north Alabama. Central Alabama will be in the low to mid-70s, and even south Alabama will feel cooler with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
