Troy’s Kimani Vidal, Javon Solomon invited to NFL Combine

The Troy duo of running back Kimani Vidal and outside linebacker Javon Solomon have been invited to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, the league office announced Tuesday.

Vidal and Solomon are among 321 NFL draft hopefuls invited to the Combine, which runs Feb. 26-March 4 in Indianapolis. The weeklong event includes medical testing, meetings with team scouts and talent evaluators and individual drills broken down by position group.

The 5-foot-8, 215-pound Vidal was Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a third-team All-American in 2023, when he ran for a school-record 1,661 yards and helped the Trojans to their second straight conference title. He is Troy’s all-time leading rusher with 4,010 yards and also holds the single-game mark with 248 yards against Stephen F. Austin in the 2023 opener.

Solomon (6-1, 248) led the country with 16.5 sacks in 2023, along with 56 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. He totaled 33 sacks in the five-year Troy career.

Vidal and Solomon both played in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile earlier this month. They are the only in-state Group of 5 players invited to the combine.

The 2024 NFL draft is set for April 25-27 in Detroit.
