Troy tight end Deyunkrea Lewis enters transfer portal

Troy tight end Deyunkrea Lewis has entered the NCAA transfer portal, he announced Wednesday.

Lewis, a Montgomery native, has one season of eligibility remaining (plus a redshirt season, if needed). He was limited to six games by injury in 2023.

Lewis posted a screenshot of his NCAA transfer portal notification on Twitter/X, with the caption “Get at me, coaches.”

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Lewis was a football and basketball standout at Montgomery’s Lee High School before signing with the Trojans in the 2020 class. He got into eight games as a true freshman, then caught 11 passes for 141 yards and three touchdowns in 201.

Lewis caught five passes for 124 yards and a touchdown at Troy in 2022, but had just one reception for four yards in 2023 while losing playing time to junior-college transfer Ethan Conner. He missed the season’s final eight games due to injury.

Conner returns for Troy in 2024, but the Trojans lost several other key offensive weapons to graduation or the transfer portal. In addition, top receiver Chris Lewis’ football future remains in doubt while he battles cancer.

The Trojans hold their annual T-Day Spring Game on Saturday. Troy opens the 2024 season at home Aug. 31 vs. Nevada.
