Troy running back Kimani Vidal to enter 2024 NFL draft
Troy running back Kimani Vidal, the 2023 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year, has opted to enter the NFL draft, he announced Sunday.
Vidal — a third-team All-America pick this year — had one season of eligibility remaining, but will turn pro instead. He set a Trojans program record with 1,661 rushing yards this season, helping his team to its second straight Sun Belt championship.
The 5-foot-8, 215-pound Vidal is also Troy’s all-time leading rusher with 4,010 yards in four seasons. He rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown in the Trojans’ 17-10, season-ending loss to Duke in Saturday’s Birmingham Bowl.
Vidal went over the 200-yard mark three times this year, including a school-record 248 yards in the season-opener vs. Stephen F. Austin. He also ran for 245 yards against Arkansas State on Oct. 5 and 233 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-23 win over Appalachian State in the Dec. 2 Sun Belt championship game.

Vidal is at least temporarily first in rushing yards among FBS players this season, 47 yards ahead of Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon (1,614). However, Gordon still has one game to play, vs. Texas A&M in Wednesday’s Texas Bowl.
