Troy receiver Jabre Barber to enter transfer portal
Wide receiver Jabre Barber on Wednesday became the latest Troy football player to announce he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Barber, a Dothan native, led the Trojans with 75 receptions for 999 yards in 2023 and also caught five touchdown passes. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
Barber is the third Troy player to enter the portal this week, along with cornerback Caleb Ransaw and offensive tackle Derrick Graham. It was also reported Wednesday that defensive end T.J. Jackson is headed to the portal.
Linebacker Jayden McDonald, the Trojans’ leading tackler in 2023, entered the portal on Dec. 17. All the defections have come since head coach Jon Sumrall left to take the Tulane job on Dec. 8; he was replaced by former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Gerad Parker.
Troy was already losing at least a dozen starters to graduation, but now must replace upwards of 16. The Trojans went 11-3 in 2023, winning their second straight Sun Belt Conference title.
