Troy hires Boyette, Carbine to football coaching staff

Troy has hired Re’Quan Boyette and Caleb Carbine to its football coaching staff, it was announced Saturday.

Boyette will coach running backs with the Trojans. He spent the last two seasons at East Carolina, and has also coached at Duke, his alma mater.

Carbine will coach the offensive line at Troy, where he played from 2011-14. He spent last season as a senior offensive analyst at Notre Dame, where new Trojans head coach Gerad Parker was offensive coordinator.

Carbine will split offensive line coaching duties with Kevin Reihner, hired Friday to coach tight ends and tackles. Carbine has also worked at North Alabama and West Virginia.

Parker has now filled seven of his 10 on-field staff positions. Still left to be filled are some combination of quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator, defensive line coach, safeties coach and special teams coordinator.

Previously announced as Troy assistants were Reihner, Gary Banks (wide receivers), Nathan Burton (inside linebackers/co-defensive coordinator), Chris Boone (outside linebackers) and Travis Pearson (cornerbacks). Banks and Pearson were retained from Jon Sumrall’s staff after Sumrall left for Tulane.
