Troy adds former K-State safety Jordan Perry via portal
Troy continued to add pieces to its defense through the transfer portal on Wednesday, getting a commitment from former Kansas State safety Jordan Perry.
Perry (6-foot-2, 197 pounds) played in two games in two seasons with the Wildcats, totaling one tackle. The Jefferson, Ga., native has three years of eligibility remaining.
Perry is the fifth player to join the Troy program through the transfer portal in the last week, along with cornerback Cecil Powell (North Carolina State), running back Gerald Green (East Carolina) and linebackers RaRa Dillsworth (East Carolina) and Brendan Jackson (Gardner-Webb). The Trojans have been looking to re-tool their roster due to massive losses to graduation and the NFL draft and through the portal following the departure of head coach Jon Sumrall to Tulane.
Five former Troy players, including starting safety Caleb Ransaw, have followed Sumrall to Tulane. Ransaw, a former star at Sparkman High School in the Huntsville area, announced his commitment to the Green Wave via a video on Instagram:
Also headed to Tulane are three backup players: linebacker Chris Rodgers, defensive end Deshaun Batiste and cornerback Jack Tchienchou. In addition, the Trojans lost defensive end T.J. Jackson to West Virginia, wide receiver Jabre Barber and offensive tackle Derrick Graham to Texas A&M and linebacker Jayden McDonald to Indiana.
Troy finished 11-3 in 2023, winning its second straight Sun Belt Conference championship. The Trojans hired former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Gerad Parker as head coach on Dec. 17.
