Toyota recalling 280K vehicles: Have one of these 3 models? Take it to dealer for a free repair

Toyota is recalling nearly 280,000 vehicles due to a transmission issue.

The automaker is initiating a safety recall of three of its models: The 2022 to 2024 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid, the 2023-2024 Toyota Sequoia and the 2022-2024 Lexus LX 600 vehicles.

According to Toyota, certain parts of the transmission may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is in neutral, leading the vehicle to continue to move forward when it is on a flat surface if the brakes aren’t applied.

Toyota and Lexus dealers plan to update the software for the transmission at no cost to customers. The auto dealer plans to notify vehicle owners about the update by late April. Customers can also find out if their vehicle has been recalled by visiting Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.

The recall is one of three announced by the company last week, according to CNN.

Some 19,000 Mirai and Lexus LS, LC and ES models in North America made between 2023 and 2024 have been recalled over software problems that can prevent the rearview image from displaying within a certain period of time when the driver shifts into reverse. Another 4,000 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles were recalled over issues with the head restraints that could increase risk of injury in a crash.
